Grandfather Mountain Map

  1. I found the Google My Maps tool very easy and straightforward to use. It wasn't as in depth or advanced as some other more professional mapping tools but it definitely gave you the ability to mark important landmarks and clearly distinguish different areas from one another. I created a map that clearly marked the different sides of Grandfather Mountain, the green being the State Park and the blue being the Stewardship Foundation. Within the Stewardship Foundation I marked the entrance gate on NC HWY 221, the Wilson Center for Nature Discovery and the Mile-High Swinging Bridge. On the State Park side I marked the start of the two most popular trailheads, the Profile Trail and the Daniel Boone Scout Trail as well as the highest peak on the mountain, Calloway Peak. Overall, a great tool for basic mapping and definitely one that I will use again.
